A Missouri native, Amy Yarnell developed a love of piano at an early age. She began taking lessons at the age of six and grew up singing and playing in her church. At age fifteen, she became the piano player at her church and served as the music director for ten years. It was while serving in this role that she realized her passion for making music with children and helping young musicians develop their talents. She earned her Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Evangel University and a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from Drury University. She taught K-12 vocal music in Missouri for two years and middle school gifted education in Tennessee for two and a half prior to moving to North Carolina. Amy is looking forward to the opportunity to work with students to develop their musical gifts and appreciation for the arts.
Chris Bost has a twenty-year music history. This includes 18 years of performing and 10 years experience instructing. Chris started learning at a young age and knows how important each students goals, taste and learning style are to keeping music exciting for them. He personalizes each students lessons helping them succeed with their music ideas.
Talia Cieri is a flutist in the Sanford, NC area. She started playing the flute when she was 10 years old and was self-taught until she began serious musical study in college. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Arts Management from Methodist University where she was involved in almost every vocal/instrumental ensemble, including marching band (flute/piccolo and drum major), jazz band, and concert band. Since college, she has played with the Fayetteville Symphonic Band, the Lee County Community Orchestra, and many different churches, regularly at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines, NC. Ever since she began teaching private lessons in college, she has always been delighted to share her love of music with her students. Talia is looking forward to the opportunity to do so at CPAS!
Shelby Shafer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Jacksonville State University. Her love for music started with singing in a bluegrass band with her dad at the age of 7. While in grade school, she had 8 years of professional voice lessons and gained experience singing classical, country, pop, jazz, and musical theater. She has also been in Show choir, Acappella choir, musical theater productions, operas, and a Christian Contemporary band. Shelby taught voice for 3 years at Jamison Taylor School of Music. She gained experience teaching students of all ages and abilities and really enjoyed getting to know her students while helping them improve and gain confidence. Shelby truly loves teaching students how to use their gifts and helping them grow as musicians. She hopes to share her knowledge, experiences, and love for music with her students at the Carolina Performing Arts Studio.
Petra Jeffords is a classically trained Baroque violinist and Early Childhood Educator with a passion for teaching music. Petra was born and raised in Hungary, she started learning music at the age of 7 and has been playing the violin for over 30 years now.
After completing her studies in Budapest, Hungary, she got accepted to the Royal Academy of Music in London and moved to England, where she studied under Mr. Simon Standage for two years, while also achieving an NVQ level 3 certificate in
Early years Education at City and Islington College. Petra has been teaching violin both overseas and in the US since 1999 as a private instructor and a music school
teacher with a solo and orchestra performance background in a variety of settings. After her husband’s retirement from the US Air Force, she is looking forward to settling down in Fayetteville and continuing to mentor and teach students of all ages.
Based out of North Carolina, Ernesto has vast performance experience working with numerous musicians and performance groups over the years.
A multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, Ernesto has been featured on a number of recordings, from his self-released EP to performance tracks on other releases. He has also interned with multi-award winning engineers & producers.
Ernesto received a B.S. in Music Industry Studies from Appalachian State University in 2009, and an M.M. in Music Business and Entertainment Industry from the University of Miami in 2017. Rivas has studied under many esteemed musicians; as well as performed with both UNC Pembroke and App State Jazz ensembles, receiving an award for outstanding musicianship at the University of Northern Colorado at Greely’s International Jazz Festival in 2005.
Mr. Rivas is currently an independent music instructor at Cape Fear Music Center in Fayetteville, NC, and at Carolina Performing Arts Studio in Cameron, NC.
